  1. Sen. Foley’s comments are unbelievably ignorant and insensitive besides being arrogant. None of the Democratic politicians have dared to explore in public the compounding effect on the taxpayers of the insane “payroll tax.” They know damn well where all of the revenues for the affected agencies come from. I live in Kings Park. The Town of Smithtown has to raise or divert my taxes; the Kings Park School District has to do the same; the Smithtown Library District also as well as the County of Suffolk! That makes four different entities that have to raise or divert my taxes to pay another government agency! And there are probably more. Foley caved to Smith instead of standing up for his Long Islanders. He would have made a better name for himself if he was remembered as the freshman lawmaker who said “nuts” to this lamebrained proposal and to his “leader.”
